Formed in 1892, and then aptly named “Newcastle United Workmen’s Golf Club”, it made golf available to everyone interested in the game. Designed by Tom Morris, it now has a shortened name, that is often associated with the football club, and indeed some players can often be seen on the fairways! The course spans the Town Moor, and could be described as a heath land type, although there is a links feel to some of the holes. Each hole has a challenge, and there are some tremendous par 5’s, the wind can make it an even bigger challenge, but the big rewards are found on the undulating greens. Newcastle United, or The Moor as it is locally, is renowned for its friendliness and visitors are always made welcome.
